Creating a Christmas hamper with Veba

14.12.2016

Christmas is almost here and the festivities have already kicked in. As we celebrate, we tend to seek out gifts for our loved ones. While many will resort to buying a few yards of a fabric for their loved to design as Christmas day wear or for some time during the festivities, there are so many other ways to use our fabric that will make your hamper even richer.

Custom made outfits

We have an in-house designer who is highly skilled and has been creating designs with the prints for 2 years now. We featured her in our last newsletter where you must have seen some of her works that were showcased at our 2015 fashion show in Lagos Nigeria. Augusta who is the creative director of Pearl Chuck, is available to discuss designs with you if you have one in mind and when you don’t, she can advise you on what is best for the body frame of that loved one whom you wish to get that custom made outfit for.  After which she is there to guide you through the fabric selection process from a wide range of print, plain and brocade fabrics. This is definitely not limited to just the women as the men can also get something unique for the season from the boutique.

Fashion accessories

We have teamed up with some accessory designers who are available to create as many accessories as you wish to gift your loved ones from clutch bags to office bags, head bands, sneakers, earrings, neck pieces, bangles and even laptop bags. You can have it in whatever shape or design that you want. All you have to do is reach out to us, let us know what design you will like, we select the fabric together and you have it done.

Interior decoration

Many a times, we tend to give our apartments a new look during the festive season. Why not help that loved one of yours in picking out some very nice fabric designs from our stock which can be sewn into a table cloth, as table cloths or covers for the cushions.

These are just a few ways to make your Christmas merrier with our designs. All of which you can purchase from our boutique at 386 Murtala Mohammed Way, Yaba, Lagos.

AFRICA FASHION WEEK NIGERIA

21.6.2016

Next week Lagos will host the 3rd edition of the  Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN), an offshoot of the Africa Fashion Week London. The event will take place at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, from 1 to 3 July 2016. With a unique tag Connecting Africa to the World, this edition is about exploiting talented designer’s gift and launching it to the world.

VEBA’s new collection Cosmos will be featured during the AFWN by the Nigerian fashion label AYABA. AYABA finds great pleasure in working with Veba fabrics. The prints are bold and colorful, the patterns distinct and unique which are qualities AYABA pieces are renowned for.

Naturally, we cannot release images of the outfits just yet; nevertheless in the meantime, we leave you with the pictures from last year’s AFWN VEBA catwalk.

DESIGNER'S EXPERIENCE

6.2016

On our very first edition, we present to you, Augusta, the creative director of Pearl Chucks – a fashion house based in Nigeria. Speaking with our Brand Ambassador Oma Ehiri, she shared her experience at the 2015 Veba Fashion Show in Nigeria, the inspiration behind her designs at the show and what she thinks about the new collection, Cosmos.

‘I have been working with Veba fabric since 2014 but 2015 was my first time of being a part of the fashion show. It was such a beautiful experience as I had a lot of fun playing with the fabrics. I wanted to create something timeless for the everyday woman which was why I went for a retro collection which I tagged Nine Lives. Working with Veba fabric is even more fun because of its very peculiar and dynamic nature. It is Guinea Brocade and 100% cotton with prints on them. So when creating a piece, you work with not just the designs of the print but also the patterns. Same goes for the new collection, Cosmos which I am currently working with. The colours are so vibrant and I trust that the Nigerian market will love it!’

VEBA ON FASHION LAB AFRICA

26.5.2016

On 26 May 2016 VEBA was invited to participate in Fashion Lab radio show that dissects the business behind fashion. Our colleagues Jana Mašínová and Tereza Nováková talked about VEBA’s strong commitment to quality standards and environmental protection. The presenter of the show Liz Ogumbo-Regisford, fashion designer based in South Africa, was also interested in VEBA’s new collection of African prints. You can enjoy the podcast on the following link: http://cliffcentral.com/fashion-lab/fashion-lab-the-textile-industry/.

Fashion Lab Africa is focused on the different aspects, elements and dynamics of the fashion industry in Africa and beyond through sharp, unapologetic, robust engagement and forthright debate that epitomise the ethos of the show. The intrinsic focus for the show includes fashion business, education, culture, demystifying stereotypes and is congruent with a Social Exchange angle specifically on fashion.

The objective of the Fashion Lab show is to empower the general public, fashion designers, retailers and any other stakeholders to ensure that a positive message is carried across the broadcast platform with tangible outcomes for the audience and the fashion industry.

WHAT IS BEHIND MICRO, MYSTIC LINES and SYNERGY?

5.2016

Top quality, originality and innovation – that is Veba Textile Mills, traditional producer of jacquard woven cotton fabrics. In this particular segment we rank among the most important manufacturers in the world. Our production comprises two product lines –  clothing fabrics and household textiles. Nearly 90% of our production is exported mainly to Africa, Europe and North America.
Especially for the Nigerian market we have developed three clothing ranges of African prints on brocade – MICRO, MYSTIC LINES and SYNERGY. They draw you into yet undiscovered world of colours and inspiration. Whenever you look at them, they are different. From a distance they impress with their unusual design and inimitable colours, at close quarters the prints start to reveal their second dimension. That is because the fabrics over which the designs are printed, already carry other designs that are inwoven.

In MICRO, tiny rounded or squared designs are hidden in bold geometric shapes. Take a closer look and find out.

In MYSTIC LINES, inwoven wide stripes give rise to the game of light and shadows. They appear to disappear again.

In SYNERGY, the base designs are inwoven and their elements further elaborated and printed over. You can mix and match them to find your own synergy.

All our collections as well as the best quality Guinea Brocades, Voiles and Bazin Riche are available in Veba Boutique in Lagos. For more comprehensive presentation of our collections, including the lookbooks, please visit us on Pinterest.

WELCOME TO SPRING 2016 – The VEBA Fashion Show

26.3.2016

The Conference hall of the Broumov Tourist Information Centre was sold out for this event which welcomed spring in style.

This second edition of "Welcome to Spring", an event organised by VEBA and the town of Broumov, outshone last year´s excellent premiere. This year was the first time all the performers were from Broumov. The models, choreographer and musicians all attend the Broumov Grammar School. And it was a great choice!

VEBA presented its products on the catwalk in four lively and imaginative sets choreographed by Bára Hovorková: "VEBA in the Comfort of Your Home", "VEBA at EXPO 2015", "Africa Wears VEBA" and "VEBA in Europe". The host Lukáš Hamerník, also from Broumov, presented the show and wore some of VEBA´s creations on stage.

The seven-piece Grammar School student band Wajnot?, under the direction of Eva Kroupová, played throughout the evening and even got the audience to dance during their last set.

The organisers donated the proceeds from the ticket sales to the Retirement Home in Broumov.
